Portrait of the artist
In painting, as for numerous artistic disciplines, the "scales" are the obliged passage towards the control: Lætitia Sanchez made her scales in the mountain and along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
Since the first landscapes and the first sketches, she knew how to develop her technique at the same time as her internal world led her towards other requirements. Her evolution illustrates well the long work of maturation that every committed artist knows during the various periods of his existence.
To go through her press portfolio or in front of a review of its paintings, one realizes that the search was always for her a necessity. Even in the commissioned works, she brought, on conventional subjects, this touch of strong personality that marks all her paintings. Her interpretation of the landscapes, first tackled issues, then her works of imagination, more abstracted, show well that it is the appropriation and the interiorization of the subjects that led the artistic progress of Lætitia Sanchez.
Indeed, the painted world has to be not only a representation of the real world but especially the representation of the internal world, its excitements, its incoherencies sometimes. The art is the vector of these feeling, of these emotions which each of us feels without being capable always of exteriorizing them. To the artist's share falls the interpreter's role of our reality, the transmitter's role.
The emotion which one feels in front of many paintings by Lætitia Sanchez results from this personal vision that the artist makes cross so well in her works.
